Design errors - CHINA




China offres an excellent service to philatelists, numbering and dating all their stamps. Except here … 1855 is not correct, the stamp was issued in 1955.

The inscription IMPERIAL CHINESE POST was a little bit ambigious, and was later corrected in CHINESE IMPERIAL POST.

This stamp was printed in 1913. The bridge in the background id the railroad brigde over the Quiantang river. Although the brigde was planned in 1913, it was built between 1934 and 1937

The upper wing of this airplane has no connection with the fuselage, and the propeller is at an impossible angle

The white and red horizontal stripes on the American flag have the same width.

China numbers and dates all their stamps. These stampswere neither issued in 1855 or in 1866, but in 1955.

The person featured on this stamp is called Astronomer Seng Yixing. His real name was Zhang Sui, Yixing is a religious surname that was given to him after he became a monk. . Issue year : 1955, not 1966.

China numbers and dates all there stamps. But here the 8F stamp from 1961 should be numbered 228, but instead was given 229 which is the number of the 10F stamp.

This Dance is called on the stamp 'The Knife Dance of the KAWA people'. As Kawa also means slave and carries a derogatory meaning, the name was changed to 'people WA' already in 1932. This was forgotten during the design of the sdtamp.

This stamp commemoratiing the First Internationalwas intended to show St Martin's Hall, Long Acre, where the International Working People Union was founded in 1864. By mistake this stamp bears an illustration of the St Martins-in-theField's church ar Trafalgar square.

This equimpent is called 'Transformer Oil switch' on the stamp. An oil switch cuts the power, a transformer change the voltage, but a transformer switch does not exist.

Wrong design of the flag of the Chinese Liberation Army : instead of an hammer and a sicle, the flag showed an hammer and a haxe

Stamp showing the 'August 1' army crossing a scene of the Yang-tze River campaign. This campaign was carried out from April 21 to 23, the design of the flag was promulgated some months later, on June 15th.

The Chinese wording underneath the pictures says : Yunnan camellias Bao Zhu and others, as if other types of flowers are represented on the stamp, which is not the case.
